I can do Social Network Analysis, if there is interest

I’ll be in and out at THATCamp tomorrow (I need to make my son’s soccer game at Richard Barry Park 12:00-1:15pm), so can do the 3pm slot if there are people who want to see how I do it. My idea is not to talk about social network concepts, but to just go ahead and map out a whole network.

I would need help from someone who knows how to use Excel (simple operations like transpose, etc.).

THATCamp Piedmont 2014 Workshops

We’ve got a few excellent workshops lined up for October 18:

  • Digital Mapping using Neatline (led by Anelise Shrout, the Mellon Post-Doc in Digital Studies at Davidson)
  • 3D Printing (led by several Davidson College undergraduates)
  • Programming with Snap!, a visual programming language. No prior experience is necessary! This is for humanists who want a hands-on introduction to programming (led by Raghu Ramanujan, a computer scientist at Davidson)

These workshops run concurrent with the unconference sessions. See the schedule for details. Wish there was another kind of workshop available? Propose your own!

Announcing THATCamp Piedmont 2014!

Davidson College will host the third annual THATCamp Piedmont on Saturday, October 18, 2014. New this year will be guided workshops and a hack-a-thon.

  • If you’re interested in the humanities; or,

  • if you’ve just begun thinking about your research or teaching in conjunction with technology; or,

  • if you’re accomplished using or interpreting technology; or,

  • if you’ve been wondering why the digital humanities have been garnering so much attention…

…you will find THATCamp an engaging and rewarding experience. Registration for the free all-day event opens in September.
